Adowa Dance Group Stuttgart was formed in July 2004 when the need arose for the Africa Union Stuttgart to present a Ghanaian cultural group to perform at their impending African Festival. Mr. Kwaku Appiah, who was then President of African Union Stuttgart asked Mr. Adu Gyamfi whether he would be in a position to organize something which he readily obliged. Mr. Adu Gyamfi contacted some known dancers who as a result, showed interest in the idea. To the admiration of the crowd at the festival, the dancers showed the audience a brilliant display of Adowa dance. Since that time, we found it worthy to maintain the Group for future performances.

The following Dancers performed at the African Festival that year:

Susana Hungs, Mary Aniwaah, Janet Manu and Alhaji. Costume was provided by Obaa panyin Comfort Sarpong.

 ACHIEVMENTS

Since the Formation of the Group, we have gained the admiration of the General public. We perform permanently at the Africa Union´s annual Festival. In July 2005, we were invited by Ghana Union Stuttgart to perform at Union of Ghanaian Associations in Germany, UGAG´s 1^st. anniversary ceremony in Stuttgart. Earlier in the same day, we helped the Ashanti Union to perform at an intercultural festival organized by the  Cultural Office in Stuttgart.

Our present dancers are:

Susi Hungs, Mary Aniwaah, Naomi Osaah and Tony Kyem.

Obaa Panyin Comfort Sarpong is our costume Specialist.

Kwasi Adu Gyamfi is the Chef Organizer.

We perform at Parties, Festivals, Funerals, Outdoorings and any social gatherings.
