Ghana Community Münich e.V.

The history of  `The Ghanaian Community e.V. Munich´ ( GCM ) dates from 15.06.1969. At that time the name was `Ghana Students Union´. Membership was possible for all Ghanaians in and around Munich. The elected president was Mr.Augustus Addae Mensah.

On the 17.02.1976 there was a change in presidency. Mr.Peter Owusu Yeboah was elected president.Mr.Peter Owusu Yeboah reactivated his post as president on the 27.04.1985 while Mr.Albert Osei-Wusu became the General Secretary.

On the 19.05.1990 the following Ghanaians:

Danquah Joe Boadi, Anyimadu Samuel Kwasi, Ansu Kyeremeh George, Rudolph Kankam, Kwasi Afriyie, Asante James, Francis Erssah, Ben Mac-Hweatah, Ben Mensah, Kusi Newman, Issac Enti-Brown, Kyei Daniel, Osei Bonsu Yaw, Baafi Francis, Emmanuel Owusu, David Arthur, Kingsley Boadi, James Asiedu Kainyiah, Kwasi Yeboah, Appiah Joseph, Peter Owusu Yeboah, Oteng Kofi, Owusu Akyaah Esther, Johnson Gyima, Osei Owusu, Ben Yeboah, Omane Francis, Amoah John, Agyin D. Samuel, Appiah Korang and Kwame Nkrumah met and decided to form a community.

There it came to light that there is already an existing Union. Heads were put together and it was understood to revive the existing `Ghana Students Union´. The name was then changed to `Ghanaian

Community Munich´.

July 1991 elected executive:

Mr.Kojo Arnor Brucku, Organizing Secretary

On the 19th Feb. 1994 the whole executive resigned. Mr.Peter Owusu Yeboah took over the interim job.

On the 12th March 1994, new executive were elected to mind the affairs of the community:

Our aim and objective :

To unite all Ghanaians in and around Munich under one umbrella.

Be the mouthpiece of the Ghanaian man and woman.

Be the watchdog of the sub-Saharan African, in terms of how we are projected in the media or on posters.

Work with policymakers towards the achievement of a better Ghana.

Work to achieve a better personal goods law. 

Aims and Objectives :

1. To unite all Ghanaians in and around Munich under one umbrella.

2. Be the mouthpiece of the Ghanaian man and woman.

3. Be the watchdog of the sub-Saharan African, interms of how we are projected in the media or on posters.

4. Work with policymakers towards the achievement of a better Ghana.

5. Work to achieve a better personal goods law.

6. To establish and promote good relationship among Ghanaians.

7. To seek and maintain contact with citizens from other nations - especially from Africa.

8.To portray Ghana socially, culturally and politically to the outside world.

9. To promote sub-Saharan African unity.
